Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT)

REBT or Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy to give it its full name, is a modern effective therapy system that was originally thought up by Albert Ellis during the 1950’s.

REBT is sometimes referred to as “rational emotive therapy” or simpler still, as “rational therapy”.

REBT is a type of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), that is focused on helping clients change irrational beliefs, and is one of a very few therapies in psychology that has evidence in support of its effectiveness.

REBT irrational beliefs

REBT is known as the rational therapy, because at its core, this most modern of therapies is all about understanding how we make sense of our emotions.

Everything we feel and everything we do, involves emotions, so Ellis developed this action orientated approach to psychotherapy, which produces results by helping clients manage their emotions, their cognitions and their behaviours.

This most wonderful and modern of therapies, teaches us that it’s not events, or things that upset and disturb us, but rather how we view these events, or things.  In essence, how a person thinks, influences their feelings.

When a person believes illogical and irrational beliefs about themselves, others, and the world, psychological problems and mental distress will often be the result.

The goal of REBT is to help people alter these negative thinking patterns and irrational, illogical beliefs, in order to overcome any resulting psychological problems.

REBT thinking

I (Libby Seery) have created this course, in such a way that everybody can benefit from this amazing therapy approach.  No special knowledge of psychology or therapy is needed, as the course has been written for beginners.

An open mind and a willingness to rethink the way in which you view yourself, others and the world is all that is required for you to gain maximum benefit of the REBT Model.

REBT is an Effective Model for Various Disorders and Issues

REBT can be effective for a long list of disorders and issues, with a good body of evidence supporting its effectiveness for each one.

These include:

          • Depression
          • Various forms of anxiety, especially social anxiety
          • PTSD
          • Phobias
          • Panic attacks
          • Eating disorders

PREVIEW REBT – THE MODERN EFFECTIVE THERAPY SYSTEM
Reviews for REBT – The Modern Effective Therapy System

This is no ordinary course! The Instructor has a lot of knowledge of REBT and has obviously used this on her own clients successfully. I am very optimistic regarding using these techniques myself. The instructor is extremely engaging, clear and makes what can be a difficult subject, quite simplistic! Fabulous!!!

Thrilled to be taking a course that originated from Albert Ellis, a genius I believe.

Excellent course! Very eye-opening to my own irrational beliefs. As long as I put the tools from this course to use, it will be life changing. Thank you Libby!
It’s the only course i found relative to rational behavior therapy, i’m very pleased with the instructors knowledge of this subject! EXCELLENT
A brand new way of looking at the world and we experience it. A very healthy notion / concept that I enjoyed learning about
Admired the relevance of the model and I think it has a lot of value in the therapeutic world
I agree to it being better than cognitive therapy. The teacher spoke very clear and gave good examples with activities and exercises to try the rebt out as you learn
This is a life changing course. Really take your time to embrace the concepts of the course and it slowly but surely makes sense. Excellent.
Encourages you to look at your own existing belief systems and if they are helpful to you or holding you back. Excellent, provoking and the instructor is amazing!

I loved your webinar and your art therapy for everyone is a real credit to you!

Stellar course which gives everyone an opportunity to enjoy the art process and an opportunity to be creative without the confinement of being judged on ability. Really well done

Inspiring to know that you don’t have to spend out a lot of money on materials and in fact you can use stuff round the house to be creative, great course :-))

WHAT A COMPLETE PLEASURE. I KNOW ART IS BECOMING MORE POPULAR WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF COLOURING BOOKS FOR ADULTS AND THIS IS AN EXTENSION OF THAT I FELT. IT IS NOT PRETENTIOUS AND DOESN’T EXCLUDE ANYONE BECAUSE YOU DON’T HAVE TO HAVE ANY ART EXPERIENCE OR BE GOOD AT IT. EXCELLENT FOR ALL AGES AND EVEN IF YOUR NOT EXPLORING DIFFICULT EMOTIONS IT IS GOOD FOR RELAXATION PURPOSES

An extremely gorgeous mix. I thought i wasn’t the “arty type”, but how wrong was i? I’m brilliant at it 🙂

Art has been a life changer for me. It has given me confidence to talk with my peers and share my work publicly.. I wish to share my experience with art with others who may be struggling in life, because I believe in the process.

Great comforting experience. I learned some lovely activities that will help me to relax more and be non judgemental about my own creativity. I loved the community spirit that this course oozed and was a lovely display board of where other students had displayed their work. A very positive experience. Thank you )

Why Soft Skills and Hardware Go So Well Together For many tech-inclined people Silicon Valley, a place in Northern California, sounds like a sort of mecca for coders, engineers and other “geeky” types who love to solve problems and think deeply and obsessively about tough, puzzling challenges. It’s a place where people who think in […]
